Wedding Testamonials

Don't take our word for's what some of our previous brides and grooms had to say.

Brea Adams ~ September 13th, 2016:

Five Stars. My wife (!) and I got married there last weekend with a huge, wily crew of 160 friends and family. Most people there told us it was the best wedding they have ever attended. I would strongly encourage anyone planning outdoor nuptuals to consider this place... it's intimate and beautiful and Sarah and PJ helped give us the wedding of our dreams!!

Chelsey Thill ~ September 2012:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we got engaged on May 16th, 2012 and our wedding date was set for September 15, 2012. For those of you who are counting, that's four short months to prepare for an event that most women take years to plan (and budget for). Needless to say, I had to work with a company that could handle that intense time frame, relatively small budget, and still deliver the vision that I had for our special day. White Lake Resort delivered- in spades! They took care of so many small details, so I could concentrate on the things that were most important to me. They were flexible to my last-last-last minute changes in schedule, decor, and food. They worked well with my band, cake baker, photographers, and wedding party. When we sat down for our first planning session, they laid out many options for our wedding, in multiple price ranges, and while we went with the one that was within our budget, we didn't once feel like they shorted us in service or style. As we got closer to the big day, and they became very familiar with our personalities and hopes for the wedding, they offered specific suggestions and ideas to make our wedding even more memorable for our guests. Those special touches- like flip-flops as guest favors- are still being talked about by our friends and family a year later. Our wedding day was exactly the perfect stress-free celebration I had always envisioned.

Jack Thill ~ September 2012:

On the day of my wedding I wanted two things: I wanted Chelsey to be happy, and I wanted problems to be someone else's job to fix. Chelsey was ecstatic, from start to finish, and if there were problems behind the scenes, we still don't know about them. The food was fantastic- I know they have a good restaurant, but that doesn't always mean the catering will be up to the same standard, so let me repeat: The food was fantastic. As far as the rest of the weekend outside of the wedding (the hotel and cabin accommodations, and the resort in general) both of our families have reunions planned for White Lake Beach this year. The Resort was definitely a hit- they fell in love enough to want to come back on their own time. The rates made it easy for everyone to attend- even out-of-state guests didn't take a big hit in the wallet. Our friends and family are still talking about our wedding- and they're using words like "perfect" and "fun" and "beautiful" to describe it. If we could do it again, we'd do it exactly the same.

Matt Smaus ~ August 2012:

I got married at the resort in late August, with our guests steadily trickling in over the course of a week. It was wonderful. The kids could keep each other entertained in the water, and the grownups could chat on the shore, or play 3-flies-up frisbee, or tackle each other off the floating trampoline.

PJ and Sarah really worked with us to smooth the process. We coordinated the wedding logistics from afar, and they were instrumental in making that much, much easier than it otherwise would have been. They worked with us to figure out a workable payment scheme for our guests, to work with local farmers to find a good pig to roast, and to roast the pig. PJ was out there in his apron doing the roasting. They have a ton of hospitality experience and it shows. And the deck is perfectly big for a contra dance.

The cabins are rustic, but many are quite up-to-date and spacious. They were perfect for our guests. The beds were comfortable, there were screens on all the doors and windows, the hot water didn't run out, and so on. What else would you want?

The water was perfect for swimming, and taking a pontoon boat out onto the lake for an afternoon of flip dives and belly-flopping was a highlight.

Thanks PJ and Sarah!

Elena Dix ~ August 2012:

White Lake Resort is a wonderful place for people of all ages to gather and relax. We just had our wedding at the resort. Friends and family gathered from all over the country and had a blast. Kids busily played on the beach all the time, which kept the adults happy and able to socialize. The lake was great for swimming, fishing, boating and sunsets. The big trampoline and slide made for great little parties in the water. Just sitting on the beach or pier to slow down was just what we needed. It was fun to have the peacocks roaming around.

The owners, PJ & Sarah, were great to work with -- from figuring out logistics of lodging 100+ people to catering our wedding reception to helping us with all sorts of details for the ceremony and reception. The food from the restaurant was excellent, thanks to Roger the chef. The other staff were very helpful. The accommodations, while not fancy, are just right for a casual week at the lake - we spent all week outdoors as much as possible and the cabins were a great base. The variety of accommodations from cabins to chalet apartments to hotel rooms served us well. Grills, fire pits, and pontoon boats are available.

The setting was very pretty.
Many guests commented that it was one of the best weddings they had been to.
